Frequently Asked Questions

Question

1

Where are you based?

My home-base is in Epanomi, Thessaloniki, Norhern Greece, about 24km from Thessaloníki city. This is where my studio is and where all my floral inspiration comes from. I offer floral design for weddings and events all across Northern Greece and beyond.

Why is a floral designer

different from a florist?

Although these two seem to be doing exactly the same job, aka creating floral arrangements for events, a floral designer doesn't simply order and put together blooms. They specialize in creating exceptional floral pieces that are exclusive and unique to each specific wedding or event. A floral designer's works are custom-made to satisfy the client's design needs. This process is different from what a traditional florist shop does.

A floral designer is a couturier of blooms, who orders (and like yours truly, also cultivates) unique varieties and flowers and preps them to look their absolute best for the day. This means you won't find blooms sitting in a refrigerator for weeks. They are completely fresh. A floral designer is also involved in the design of your wedding. They have an inventory of pots, vases, antiques, arches, furnishings and rare items you can rent that are perfect for your blooms to fit in and bring the entire vision to life.

Question

3

Do you have an actual

shop we can visit?

Floral Designers like myself have a studio out of our own home and not an actual storefront. This means we are able to include all the labor for the day of delivery, setting up and tearing down in our services.

Question

4

How many events per day

and per weekend can you

handle?

I strive to maintain high quality in my services, and that is why I choose to only handle one elaborate or two smaller scale weddings or events per day.

Question

How far in advance of an event

will you create our bouquets and

5

arrangements, and how

are they stored?

If the wedding is at the weekend, I will be receiving my flowers five days in advance. These will be cut, cleaned and stored in special containers. During the next day I will forage and collect my own plants. I usually begin working on the arrangements 3 or 4 days before the wedding depending on the scale of the events. My aim is to provide my clients with absolute freshness.

Question

Do you make yourself familiar with the site before you design florals for an event?

6

There is no other way to have a perfect balance and a cohesive vision. This is something I definitely want to achieve, that is why I will contact your planner and venue, share images, inspect and deliberate with you on the overall aesthetic before getting to the design stage.

Question

7

Do you have a minimum floral budget?

My services carry an investment price that includes the design process, the labor, the setting up and tearing down of the pieces. From then on, it all depends on the kind of florals my clients envision, the seasonal produce, or the amount of orders made, the shipping costs, and of course the rental pieces.

Question

How do you describe your wedding style?

8

Poetic and intuitive, romantic and intentional. I'm passionate about striking the perfect harmony between modern and traditional, dynamic compositions and the natural movement of foliage and florals. I love my arrangements to have a life of their own, to breathe and pop with colors and personality. There are no blooms I will shy away from and I love to use veggies and accents that give my clients and their guests an aura of enthusiasm and joy.

Question

9

Are you able to provide organic, pesticide-free, or sustainably grown flower varieties?

I am. I always seek out organically cultivated flora and foliage. My very own varieties are sustainably grown, but it always depends on my client's needs and special requirements, as organically grown flowers are pricier.

Can you offer floral substitutions to fit a budget?

Question

My clients trust me completely for my intensive care and approach to floral design. I always advise them to consider their floral spending plan with the help of their wedding planner prior to contacting me, so I can easily define what fits them best, and allow my creativity to soar to give them something truly outstanding.

As the majority of my clients are design-oriented and value the aesthetics of botanical design this gives me the opportunity to order unique varieties of flowers and have them flown over. That said, a few adjustments can be made with one or two substitutions, as long as elegance and harmony are not compromised. I want the best for my clients.

10

HOW DO YOU CREATE OUR INITIAL FLORAL DESIGN PROPOSAL? ΑND WHAT IS THE COST?

Question

11

Right after your initial contact with us we will send you a questionnaire to fill out and return to us so that we can figure out what you are looking for concerning your wedding/event floral design. Soon after your reply and based on your requirements, we begin to construct our initial floral proposal. Kindly note, that this proposal comes with a small charge as there are several hours to be invested in research, and creating a fully-customized list and mood board, all complete with original ideas and suggestions that are unique to our brand. Should you decide to go on and collaborate with us, this amount will be removed from your final fee.

Question

What types of vases do you suggest? And do I rent the vases from you or do I get to keep them?

12

I choose the vases, pots and elements according to the aesthetic of each celebration. My inventory is chock-full or artful vessels, rare antiques, and modern pieces, available to rent and to return once their events are over. If however, you wish to keep some of these pieces, you can most certainly do so with an added cost.

WHAT OTHER DECOR ELEMENTS CAN YOU PROVIDE? ARE THESE RENTAL ITEMS, AND HOW WILL THESE AFFECT THE OVERALL COST?

Question

13

I do carry the essential equipment to create a floral-design production, such as iron and wood constructions, arches, some exquisite antique furnishings, and personal collection artwork items. Any equipment rentals you choose from Maria Voudouri are included in the total investment. Kindly note, that as we are not a rental company, our collection is limited to specific items. For extended wedding furniture, art de la table, and other rentals such as but not limited to aisle runners, candelabras, trees, votives, mirrors, etc. please address a rental company.

Question

14

Can you create sample arrangements before the event? If so, is there an additional fee for this?

Once the client has signed the contract, I am able to offer a sample arrangement at a cost. A variety of flowers need to be sourced in order to create accurate sample arrangements. These flowers, however, are purchased in bulk not individually. Therefore, sample arrangements can not be offered for free.

Question

15

Will you work with my cake designer if I decide to add flowers to my wedding cake? If so, is there an additional setup fee for this?

Absolutely so, and with no additional charges.

Question

Can you assist your clients in the preservation of their bouquet after the wedding?

16

I will most definitely provide my insights and advice but not all florals can be preserved perfectly and you may require a specialized artist for that.

Question

Do you have an extra charge for the setup and breakdown of the floral décor?

17

I do not, all charges for setup and breakdown are included.

Question

18

How long do you need to set up?

It depends on the number of special installations and constructions necessary. If you are on a tight schedule because your ceremony and reception are in the exact same space we will setup an exact time line with regards to your particular production.

Question

What time will you arrive to deliver personal flowers and set up the ceremony and reception arrangements?

19

I always arrive a few hours ahead of the ceremony to setup the aisle arrangements in coordination with the wedding planner and the venue. The same of course applies for the reception venue/area.

Question

Is there an extra fee if your clients require you to stay throughout the ceremony to move arrangements to the reception site?

20

Provided the reception site is in close proximity and there are only a few floral pieces required to move, there are no additional charges. In the case there are larger installations that need to be broken down and set up right from the start there is an additional fee.

Question

Do you setup tables and furnishings at the reception?

21

As a floral designer my duties include supervising the decor and setting up of the florals at the reception venue, so as they coordinate perfectly with the rest of your setting. But kindly keep in mind that the basic furnishings, decor, and rentals require to be already on site and ready for the florals to be installed, prior to your guests' arrival.

Question

How far in advance does a client need to secure your services?

22

Our clients usually book their floral design services a year in advance, to ensure the availability of their selected date. That said I will always go above my best of abilities to accommodate requests 6 months in advance, or less, provided that the requested date is available yet.

Question

23

How much is the deposit required to book your services and when is it due?

To secure my services a down payment of 50% of your investment is required, and it is due within a few days from receiving your contract.

Question

24

When is your final payment due?

The final payment is due around a month to 20 days prior to the wedding day.

Question

When should your clients finalize the order?

25

As far as the overall floral production and design is concerned, the final order should be finalized at least within 8 months prior to the event, for larger-scale productions and elaborate design requirements, that include several orders from abroad. Minor alterations, and smaller details can be finalized up to 6 months prior.

Question

Will you provide your clients with a customized floral proposal of all the elements you've discussed, along with prices?

26

Most certainly, as this is the best way to ensure we are on the same page. Soon as my clients have secured our services and based on the information gathered from our further discussions, their vision, and needs, I will create an all-inclusive proposal and submit it to my clients for reviewing.

What is your refund policy if for some reason a client needs to cancel their order?

Question

27

All weddings & events require a non refundable 50% deposit to secure a wedding/event date. Deposits are non- refundable under any circumstances.

In the event of postponement or cancellation of an event payments may be applied to a different date within 2 calendar years from the original date of the event.

In case your event is canceled before any floral/furnishing orders are made, but have sent payments for these orders you will be refunded the full amount you have deposited, with the exception of the booking fee.

Question

Do you send a contract to your clients?

28

To ensure smooth operation and that our clients know what their agreement entails, we do provide a contract for them to sign and return along with their deposit fee.

Question

If we provide you with a picture of a bouquet and/or centerpiece that we like, can you recreate it?

29

An expert floral designer can work on practically anything their clients heart. However, creativity and uniqueness are what characterizes this art and therefore I would not copy anyone else's works. I definitely want to satisfy my clients' desires and offer them design that exceeds their expectations.
